Documents Required For Aadhar Cards

Supported Proof of Identity (PoI) Documents Required for New Aadhaar Card

These are documents that establish that you are who you claim to be as seen on documents issued by various government bodies. The one common theme in all these documents is that they all need to be photo identity cards. The document must contain your name and photo. You can submit any of the following documents as identity proof and also used as KYC documents for Aadhar Cards.

  1. Passport.
  2. Ration Card or PDS Photo Card.
  3. PAN Card.
  4. Driving License.
  5. Voter ID.
  6. NREGS Job Card.
  7. Government Photo ID Cards or PSU Issued Service Photo Identity Card.
  8. Arms License.
  9. Photo ID Issued by a Recognized Educational Institution.
  10. Photo Credit Card.
  11. Photo Bank ATM Card.
  12. Kissan Photo Passbook.
  13. Pensioner Photo Card.
  14. Freedom Fighter Photo Card.
  15. ECHS/ CGHS Photo Card.
  16. Certificate of Identity that has photo issued by Gazetted Officer or Tehsildar on a letterhead.
  17. Address Card that has name and photo issued by the Department of Posts.
  18. Disability ID Card or handicapped medical certificate that is issued by the respective State or Union Territory Government or Administrators.

List of Supported Proof of Address (PoA) Documents For Aadhar Registration

These are documents that prove that you are residing at the address that you have provided. This is a particularly import piece of information and should always be correct since the Aadhar card will be sent to this address. This means that if you make a mistake in the address, or fail to correct/update it in time, you will have trouble receiving the Aadhar card since it is only sent to the address mentioned on the application form. Your address proof must have your name and address. The following documents are accepted by the UIDAI as identity proof:

  1. Bank Statement or Passbook.
  2. Ration Card.
  3. Passport.
  4. Post Office Statement or Passbook.
  5. Voter ID.
  6. Government Photo ID Cards or PSU Issued Service Photo Identity Card.
  7. Driving License.
  8. Water Bill (It should not be more than 3 months old).
  9. Electricity Bill (It should not be more than 3 months old).
  10. Property Tax Receipt (It should not be more than 1 year old).
  11. Landline Telephone Bill (It should not be more than 3 months old).
  12. Credit Card Statement (It should not be more than 3 months old).
  13. Signed Letter that has Photo from the Bank on a letterhead.
  14. Insurance Policy.
  15. Signed Letter that has Photo and is issued by a Recognized Educational Institution on a letterhead.
  16. Signed Letter that has Photo and is issued by a registered Company on a letterhead.
  17. Arms License.
  18. NREGS Job Card.
  19. Pensioner Card.
  20. Kissan Passbook.
  21. Freedom Fighter Card.
  22. Income Tax Assessment Order.
  23. ECHS/ CGHS Card.
  24. Certificate of Address that issued by the head of Village Panchayat or an equivalent authority (for rural areas).
  25. Certificate of Address that has photo and is issued by a MLA or MP or Tehsildar or Gazetted Officer on a letterhead.
  26. Vehicle Registration Certificate.
  27. Registered Lease/ Sale/ Rent Agreement.
  28. Caste and Domicile Certificate that has photo and is issued by the State Government.
  29. Address Card that has photo and is issued by the Department of Posts.
  30. Gas Connection Bill (It should not be more than 3 months old).
  31. Disability ID Card or handicapped medical certificate that is issued by the respective State or Union Territory Government or Administrators.
  32. Passport of Parents (in case of minors).
  33. Passport of Spouse.
  34. Marriage Certificate that has the address and is issued by the Government.
  35. Allotment Letter of accommodation that is issued by the State or Central government and is not older than 3 years.

Supported Proof of Date of Birth (DoB) Documents for Aadhar

To prove the date of birth mentioned by you is accurate, the following required documents can be submitted at the time of Aadhar registration.

  1. SSLC Certificate or Book.
  2. Birth Certificate.
  3. Passport.
  4. PAN Card.
  5. Certificate of Date of Birth that is issued by Group A Gazetted Officer on a letterhead.
  6. Government Photo ID Cards or PSU Issued Photo Identity Card that contains the DoB.
  7. Mark sheet that has been issued by any Government University or Board.
  8. Central Government Health Service Scheme Photo Card or Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme Photo Card.
  9. State or Central Pension Payment Order.

Supported Proof of Relationship (PoR) Documents Required For Aadhar Enrollment

  • Your proof of relationship must be a document that contains details about your relationship with the Head of Family. The following documents are accepted by the UIDAI as PoR:
  1. Passport.
  2. MNREGA Job Card.
  3. PDS Card.
  4. Pension Card.
  5. CGHS/ECHS/State Government/ESIC Medical Card.
  6. Army Canteen Card.
  7. Marriage Certificate Issued by the Government.
  8. Birth Certificate issued by the Registrar of Birth, Municipal Corporation and other notified local government bodies such as Tehsil, Taluk, etc.
  9. Any other State or Central government issued family entitlement document.

Documents Required for Changing Aadhar Card Address

The list of documents required for changing address on Aadhar Card are as follows:

  • Proof of Identity (PoI) – The document must contain your name and photo. You can submit any of the following documents as identity proof:
    • Passport.
    • Ration Card or PDS Photo Card.
    • PAN Card.
    • Driving License.
    • Voter ID.

Let’s assume that you have none of the first three documents to prove your identity. It does not mean that you will not be able to apply for Aadhar. Here is how to apply for Aadhar Cards without any documents

Documents Required for Aadhaar Card for Child

For children below 5 years old, UIDAI does not require biometrics. The UID for these children will be processed based on their facial photograph and demographic details that is linked with the UID of their parents. Once these children turn 5 years old, they have to be re-enrolled. During this re-enrollment process, their biometrics will be collected by UIDAI. Their biometrics will be updated again when they turn 15 years old.

The documents required to Aadhar Cards registration for a child are as follows:

  • Proof of date of birth.
  • Identity and address proof.
  • Aadhaar card of any one of the parents.

The following documents are accepted as proof of identity:

  • Passport.
  • PAN Card.
  • Voter ID Card.
  • Driving License.

The following documents are accepted as proof of address:

  • Passport of Spouse.
  • Passport.
  • Driving License.
  • Voter ID Card.
  • Ration Card.
  • Credit Card Statement (within 3 months).
  • Bank statement/ Passbook.
  • Water Bill (within 3 months).
  • Electricity Bill (within 3 months).
  • Insurance Policy.
