How To Apply For Service Tax Refund Online

Procedure For Online Service Tax Refund:

Refund of service tax can be done online as per the following procedure:

  • Visit the official Automation of Central Excise and Service Tax (ACES) website
  • Click the ‘Service Tax’ tab in the menu located at the top of the screen
  • On the following screen, the applicant will be required to log in to his or her service tax account with his or her user name and password
  • Once logged in, head to the ‘REF’ tab
  • Click on the ‘Refund Request’ tab followed by the ‘Create’ tab
  • A window will open up showing service tax refund form
  • All relevant details are required to be entered in the form by the applicant
  • After entering these details the request is to be submitted by clicking the ‘Submit’ button
  • Following the submission of the form, the assessee will receive a refund request number, which will be automatically generated.

Assessees are required to fill in the online form for refund of service tax with the following particulars:

  • The refund request date
  • Claimant Details:
    • Registration number
    • Name
    • Address of the registered unit
    • Commissionerate
    • Division
    • Range
    • Nature of the claimant
  • Details of the service provider (if the applicant is the recipient of service)
    • Registration number
    • Name
    • Address of the registered unit
    • Commissionerate
    • Division
    • Range
  • Particulars of the claim
    • Reason for refund
    • Total amount claimed in rupees
    • Total amount claimed from deposit in current account in rupees
  • Amount claimed
    • Service Category
    • Amount claimed in rupees
