How to Apply for Aadhaar Card in Assam

The registration process for Aadhaar card in Assam has been rather moderate since National Registration of Citizens (NRC) was being carried out by the government. The UIDAI has mentioned a list of documents that are required to apply for Aadhaar card. An applicant must submit one copy each for proof of address and proof of identity to continue with the registration of Aadhaar card in Assam.

Aadhaar card registration by visiting enrolment centres in Assam

The first step to enrolling one’s name for Aadhaar card is to search for an Aadhaar enrolment agency in Assam. An applicant can choose any of the enrolment centres nearest to his/her location and book an appointment for the registration of Aadhaar. On the date of appointment in the Aadhaar card centre in Assam, the applicant has to keep in mind the following steps mentioned below.

  • Step 1. After visiting an Aadhaar enrolment agency in Assam, the applicant needs to submit his/her information like name, address, contact number, etc.
  • Step 2. After proving the information he/she have to submit photocopies of necessary documents to validate all the information provided by his/her.
  • Step 3. The documents required are proof of age, proof of address, proof of marital status (only for married individuals), and proof of identity.
  • Step 4. In every authorised Aadhaar enrolment agency in Assam, there are arrangements for the applicant to submit his/her biometrics.
  • Step 5. Then the officials present at the centre will scan the applicant’s eyes in the iris scanner to record the iris signature of the applicant.
  • Step 6. The applicant will then receive a 28-digit Aadhaar enrolment id (EID) from the Aadhaar card centre in Assam. This number can be used as an Aadhaar substitute until the receipt of the card.
  • Step 7. Once the registration is done, applicants need to wait up to 90 days for the Aadhaar card which will be delivered to them via speed post.

 

How to check Aadhaar status online

After the procedures at the enrolment centre, applicants will receive an enrolment ID which can be used to check the status of Aadhaar. To check the status, one can follow these steps:

  • Step 1. Go to the official website UIDAI
  • Step 2. Click ‘Check Aadhaar status’ and enter the enrolment number.
  • Step 3. The applicants have to submit a security code.
  • Step 4. Click the ‘check status’ button.
  • Step 5. The status of the applicant’s Aadhaar card will be shown on the screen.

In case, the applicant has not received his/her Aadhaar card via mail which takes up to 90 days; the UIDAI provides online service to download and print the soft copy of Aadhaar card which is equally accepted everywhere.

How to download Aadhaar soft copy with EID

The applicant can download his/her e-Aadhaar by simply following the steps mentioned below.

  • Step 1. Visit the official website of UIDAI.
  • Step 2. Click ‘Download Aadhaar Card’.
  • Step 3. Enter the enrolment number.
  • Step 4. Provide full name
  • Step 5. Provide the address of residence as mentioned in the Aadhaar enrolment form.
  • Step 6. Provide mobile number registered with Aadhaar.
  • Step 7. The applicant will then have to enter a security code.
  • Step 8. An OTP will be sent to the registered mobile number to authenticate the information provided by the applicant.
  • Step 9. After the successful authentication, applicants will be able to download their e-Aadhaar card.
