RD is an extremely smart saving option for small-time investors and those with a steady monthly income. It allows the depositor to invest a fixed sum every month for a fixed period. Once the deposit tenure is over, the account holder gets back a lump sum amount including the principal and interest. The RD scheme offered by OBC is known as Progressive Deposit General.<\/p>\n<h2>Features and benefits of Oriental Bank of Commerce Recurring Deposit<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Progressive Deposit Scheme<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The minimum monthly installment amount is Rs. 10 and in multiples of the same thereof.<\/li>\n<li>The interest is compounded quarterly.<\/li>\n<li>The rate of interest is subject to the period of deposit.<\/li>\n<li>The interest earned on your Regular RD is free of TDS (Tax Deductible at Source) deductions, as per the current <a href=\"https:\/\/www.antworksmoney.com\/blog\/section-44ad-income-tax-act\/\"><strong>income tax rules<\/strong><\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>OBC provides a loan facility of up to 95% of the accrued deposit value, to maximize benefits for its customers.<\/li>\n<li>Once the depositor has specified the amount of monthly installments and the deposit tenure in the AOF, he\/she shall not be allowed to alter the same.<\/li>\n<li>The deposit tenure ranges from a minimum of 6 months to a maximum of 120 months.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Interest offered on OBC\u2019s Recurring Deposit<\/h2>\n<p>Oriental Bank of Commerce offers lucrative and competitive rates of interest for its Recurring Deposit scheme. The rate of interest depends on the period of deposit. The rate of interest ranges from 8% to 8.25% and is compounded on quarterly basis. It is credited to the account of the depositor once the RD matures, unless in case of death of one of the account holders (applicable to joint accounts) and other exceptional cases.<\/p>\n<h2>Eligibility to open an RD account with OBC<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>An individual can open an RD account in his\/her own name.<\/li>\n<li>A maximum of three individuals can open a joint RD account together.<\/li>\n<li>In case of a joint RD account, if one of the account holder dies, the amount can be payable to either one of the survivors, or both the survivors (in case of one RD account held by 3 people).
