{"id":1851,"date":"2018-03-08T23:56:07","date_gmt":"2018-03-08T18:26:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.antworksmoney.com\/blog\/?page_id=1851"},"modified":"2018-11-05T17:08:08","modified_gmt":"2018-11-05T11:38:08","slug":"rti-and-passport","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.antworksmoney.com\/blog\/rti-and-passport\/","title":{"rendered":"RTI and Passport"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In order to obtain information through the RTI Act, a request must be sent in writing or through electronic means to the Chief Public Information Officer, CPV Division, Ministry of External Affairs.<\/p>\n<h2>How to file an application under RTI with the CPV (Consulate, Passport, and Visa) division of the Ministry of External Affairs or Passport Offices in India<\/h2>\n<p>Given below are step-by-step instructions on how to file an RTI for information from the CPV \/ Passport Office.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Application fee.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>If the information is being sought under Subsection (1) of Section 6, an application fee must be paid.<\/li>\n<li>Any person seeking any information under the RTI Act from the CPV \/ &#8211; Passport Officers must pay an application fee of\u00a0<strong>Rs.10<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>If the RTI application is being submitted in writing at the\u00a0<strong>CPV Division, Patiala House, New Delhi,\u00a0<\/strong>the fee can be paid in cash, or through Demand Draft \/ Banker\u2019s Cheque \/ Indian Postal Order which has been drawn in favour of the\u00a0<strong>Accounts Officer, Ministry of External Affairs, payable at New Delhi.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>If the RTI application is being submitted in writing at any of the Regional Passport Offices (RPO), the fee can be paid in cash, or through Demand Draft \/ Banker\u2019s Cheque \/ Indian Postal Order which has been drawn in favour of\u00a0<strong>The Passport Officer, &lt;respective Post Office&gt;, payable at the location in which the &lt;respective Post Office&gt; is located.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>If the RTI application is being submitted online through the RTI web portal, the\u00a0<strong>application fee must be paid online\u00a0<\/strong>through Net Banking \/ Credit or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.antworksmoney.com\/blog\/get-cvv-number-debit-card\/\"><strong>Debit Card<\/strong><\/a> \/ Other payment facilities that are available on the portal itself.<\/li>\n<li>It should be noted that those persons who fall under the\u00a0<strong>BPL Category<\/strong>\u00a0are exempted from the payment of the application fee, but only if they provide the necessary documents that support their claim.<\/li>\n<li>The requirement for an application fee comes from a directive mentioned in a Gazette Notification that was issued by the Department of Personnel &amp; Training, Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pension of the Indian Government (no. 34012\/8(s)\/2005 Estt &#8211; B dated 16.09.2005).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Additional Fee.<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>For information being sought under Subsection (1) and (5) of Section 7, an additional fee will be charged.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Under Subsection (1) of Section 7:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>For each page created or copied in A-4 size paper \u2013 Rs.2 per page.<\/li>\n<li>For each page created or copied in A-3 size paper \u2013 Rs.2 per page.<\/li>\n<li>For samples or models \u2013 actual cost price.<\/li>\n<li>For copies in larger size paper \u2013 actual cost price.<\/li>\n<li>For inspection of records \u2013 no fee for the first hour, and Rs.5 per hour after that.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Under Subsection (5) of Section 7:<\/strong>\n<ul>\n<li>For information that is to be provided in a diskette or floppy \u2013 Rs.50 per diskette or floppy.<\/li>\n<li>For information provided in print \u2013 the price fixed for such publication.<\/li>\n<li>For information provided in print \u2013 Rs.2 per photocopied page extracted from the required publication.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>The mode of payment will be the same as that of the Application Fee.<\/li>\n<li>In case additional fees are required, the concerned authority will communicate the requirement for additional fee payable to the applicant.
