The government of India has made it easier for the NPS scheme holders to access their account online. Then going to the NPS office and waiting in the long queues, the subscriber can look at the status of his account by just logging into the official NPS website.
Here are the steps on how to link Aadhaar with NPS account
- Visit www.cra-nsdl.com and log into your account.
- Then click on “update details” option, and select edit/Add Aadhaar number and enter your Aadhaar number.
- Before you submit it you will get an OTP on your mobile number that you have registered with UIDAI. This is purely for authentication purpose. And after this you can see your Permanent Retirement Account Number (PRAN) linked with your Aadhaar. (PRAN is an unique number provided by NPS for all the subscribers which will never change)
In case you are opening the PRAN account for the first time,
- You will have to first login to www.cra-nsdl.com and enter all your personal details.
- Enter your Aadhaar details properly.
- You can also choose to change the picture, if you do not like the one that is on your Aadhaar.
- Upload your signature.
- You will have to pay a minimum of Rs.500 to open an NPS account.
- You can choose to make your payments through debit cards, credit cards, or net banking.
- After your payment is successful, your PRAN account is generated which is linked to your Aadhaar.
Do not forget to take the printout of the form. You will have to sign this printout and attach a photograph and send it to the CRA within 6 months from the date the PRAN account is generated. Or else your PRAN will get deactivated temporarily.
Note that the name mentioned in PFRDA should match with the name mentioned on your Aadhaar card. In case, if there is a mismatch, then the account holder/subscriber should submit a self-attested PRAN card copy and Aadhaar copy.
