Following options to retrieve income tax user id and password
Option 1
In order to retrieve the password, you should visit income tax efiling website: e-Filing Home Page, Income Tax Department, Government of India and click on Login Here, once you click that, you will find an option at bottom “forgot password”, on clicking that, it will prompt you to enter your user ID i.e. your PAN, once you enter & hit continue, you will get following 4 options :
- Answering secret question (the one you have entered at the time of registering)
- Uploading DSC (if you have registered your DSC on income tax login)
- Using OTP ( if you know and have access to mobile & email registered on income tax)
- Using Adhaar OTP ( if your Adhaar is linked with PAN & with your mobile no.)
Option 2
If you do not have access to any of the above option, you could also login to your income tax account through “ efiling login through netbanking” –
“ efiling login through netbanking” would work only if your PAN is linked with the said bank account.
Option 3
If none of the above options work, you could call & write a mail to income tax department for retrieval of password.
