Central Bank of India has launched an UPI app called Cent UPI, available on the Google Play Store for Android mobile users. In addition to Central Bank of India, other bank customers can use Cent UPI for their banking needs.
Features and Benefits of the Unified Payment Interface Application
The following are the features and benefits of the UPI App:
- Multiple accounts: It is a single payment system linking many bank accounts. Your bank has to be a participant of UPI. Only savings account , current, and overdraft accounts will be visible on the UPI App. Bank accounts with a debit card will be visible on the app.
- Funds transfer: Funds transfer can be made via a VPA, MMID or a combination of your bank account and IFSC code.
- Any bank account: UPI apps are not limited to one bank. Customers of any bank can use UPI app of any other bank.
- Zero transaction charge: No transaction charge for banking transactions made using the UPI App.
- Instant payment: Funds transfer is not only instant but also done anytime you desire. UPI app operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Many UPI Apps: You can use many UPI Apps on a single android mobile. UPI App is available only to Android users at present. If you change your mobile phone, SIM or UPI app, you will have to register again.
All you need is an active bank account, a mobile number registered with the bank, and an android mobile to use the UPI app.
Features and Benefits of Cent UPI
Listed below are the features and benefits of Cent UPI:
- Secure payment: Merchant payments are made easy using the UPI App. You can make secure payments via two-factor authentication.
- Link bank accounts: Cent UPI is a single app to which multiple bank accounts can be linked. Any active bank accounts can be linked not just the Central Bank of India bank account.
- Funds transfer: Funds can be transferred to any VPA, bank account, Aadhaar number, and mobile number. In order to transfer money to a mobile number, MMID of the bank account is required. So far, only domestic transactions are allowed.
- Instant money transfer: The money transfer is instant. Thus, saving waiting period on the payee’s part. UPI operates 24/7 unlike NEFT or RTGS.
How to use Cent UPI?
Listed below is the step-by-step process of how to use Cent UPI:
- Download the UPI app from Google Play Store on your Android mobile. Open the app and read the user guidelines. On completion, click on the ‘Register’ tab.
- Verification code: The app will send a verification code to your mobile number.
- Mobile number: It is advisable to use the mobile number that is registered with your bank. If you are using dual SIM, the app will prompt you to choose one. Enter the SMS code for verification.
- Registration form: You will have to fill up a registration form with your name, email ID, and a VPA of your choice. Agree to the T&C and sign up with Cent UPI.
- Login PIN: You will have to set a 6-digit PIN as your login PIN. This PIN is required to login to the app whenever you want to use it.
- Features of Cent UPI: Once you are registered and signed into the app, you will see the homepage of the app containing various features such as Send Money, Receive Money, Transaction History, etc.
- Link bank account: Before doing any transaction, you will have to link a bank account to the app. You can link any number of bank accounts, doesn’t have to be just Central Bank of India bank account. Click on the ‘Add Bank Account’ tab. You can choose your bank from the drop down. Your bank account number will be visible.
- VPA: You have to choose one VPA for a bank account. When you use VPA, you don’t need to reveal your bank account or other personal details to others. For a bank account, up to 10 VPAs can be generated.
- MPIN: You will have to set an MPIN using your debit card details. An OTP will be generated and sent via SMS to your registered mobile number for authentication of MPIN setup.
